INDUSTRIAL SOFTNESS

The Alwa Two Big Coffee Table pairs a thick, round tabletop of cast glass—marked by natural bubbles, streaks and subtle surface irregularities—with a slender cross-shaped base in powder-coated steel. Compact in scale yet sculptural in presence, the design captures the fluid movement of molten glass in a solid form while providing a practical surface for everyday use.

STORY

Alwa Two Big Coffee Table

Normally, glass is regarded as being lightweight with sharp edges. In contrast, Sebastian Herkner’s Alwa possesses gentle contours as a result of its exquisite handmade process. The raw, hot, glass mass with its natural bubbles is an imprint of the structure, including an uneven, tactile surface.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Pulpo

Pulpo is a German manufacturer of high-end, art-driven quality products for living. Established in 2006, Pulpo's passion for both art & design fuels its eponymous creations with fire as the literal origin of their products, born as they are from the furnaces of glass-blowers, ceramicists and metal workers.

Inspired by Art Basel, pulpo was founded on the idea of 'carte blanche'. Their projects emerge naturally from collaborations between inspiring friends, designers and artists such as Samuel Treindl whose imagination is behind some of the heroic pieces of recent collections.
